We Got Expelled In Selinsgrove!

Found out this weekend that the "Expelled" movie is coming to Selinsgrove's Cinema Center this Friday, May 2. I don't know if my blog post and phone calls made a difference or not but, we now NEED to support this movie at Selinsgrove.

Twitter to Get Out of Jail

As some of you know, I have been "Twittering". I thought this news about a guy who used twitter to get out of jail was extremely interesting. If you are thinking about using twitter, you might want to check this out as well. The people at Simply Youth Ministry are trying to get Doug Fields 1000 twitter followers. You should sign up, follow me and Doug.

Short Workshop Wrap-Up

Last evening a few leaders and I attended a youth leaders workshop hosted by PA Christian Endeavor. The evening was titled "Four Programming Principles to Help You Win Youth for Christ". While there is nothing new under the sun, it was a good time to reflect about how well we are doing in reaching out to kids today. Without going into too much detail, the four principles include:

1. Are we producing a Loving Caring Atmosphere? Finding ways to say "You Are Special"

2. Are the meeting areas providing a Socially Acceptable Atmosphere? Finding ways to show "these people know my generation"

3. Are we meeting consistantly?

4. Are we providing Christian (Christ Following) principles and discipling kids to do the work of ministry.

More "Fiddle" Art

Another creation by Seth and Joel.

Pipe cleaner Art

They gave us stuff to "fiddle" with at the workshop. This is what Seth
and I made with the pipe cleaners.

Hmmmmmmmm

I haven't posted in a couple of days and I just wrote something about how I was feeling lately. It was pretty long and getting a little wordy. For some reason I hit the wrong keys simultaniously and lost it all. I am taking that to mean I wasn't supposed to publish what I wrote - so I won't.

Let's Get Expelled in Central PA

If you would like to see this movie in the Central PA (Selinsgrove, Bloomsburg) area, please contact the Cinema Center central office 717.692-4744 ext. 1 and ask for Marv. He is the one who orders the movies. Please be nice. Just ask them to consider having "Expelled: No Intellegence Allowed" in their theaters. If you are planning to take people, make sure you tell them.

I talked today to Ron at Rocky Mountain Pictures who said they could get it in there by next week if they will order it. I am hoping that if enough people contact them, they will consider booking it.

It can never hurt to try. I am going to drive an hour away in Williamsport to see it tonight. However, I am sure a lot of you might not want to do that. Let's see what happens.

The Problem With Drinking Tea

I have really learned to like hot tea. Well, really just certain kinds. However, as much as I enjoy it, I have a problem. I like to drink it a little warmer than warm - but I don't like it hot. The problem is, tea is much better when steeped piping hot. Being impatient, this creates a hassle. This was true this morning. I really wanted some tea but didn't have enough time to make hot water, steep the tea and let it cool down enough for me to enjoy it. What a vexation.

Shout to the Lord on American Idol!!

I got this from Josh and usually don't post things that you could get to right from my blog. However, I was pleased (word specifically chosen for one person) that they used it on American Idol and really wanted to share it as well.

Things You See a Men's Retreat

I spent Saturday at the men's retreat. It was a good time. Bruce Heffner was the speaker for the weekend. We talked about standing for the truth.

I thought the following pictures from the retreat were different. This first pic is of the 11th commandment, I think.

This sign kind of speaks for itself.
Believe it or not, these were brought along and used during the weekend.
I guess I should let you know that the bobbins in the pic above are used to tie flies for fly fishing.
Speaking of tying flies, here are a few things I heard during the fly fishing class:
I am on "Christ Crack"
I have a "Green Weenie"
I have made "Crystal Meth" before
This one is a "Wooly Bugger"
"Hold the butt in your right hand"
You definitely had to be there to understand all of that.

Papa's Mini Me!

I just had to show these pictures. My nephew is sooo darn cute. That sounds a little feminine I think. I guess I don't care . . . I am not going to change it. Tell me I am wrong!

Me, You, Horton and the Who

I went with a friend of mine to see "Horton Hears a Who" last night. I loved the book when I was a kid and really wanted to see this movie. Funny thing was we were the ONLY two in the theater. It was great! Our own theater. I have always wanted to talk, use my cell phone, comment on the movie, etc. when I go to a movie. Last night I had my chance. But I didn't. I am not sure why? But I didn't.

By the way, the movie was above average for a cartoon. Good but not great.

If you haven't seen it, here's the trailer.
