Can It Be 25!

Last night I wss the emcee at a local high school's athletic banquet. I enjoyed it a lot especially talking with the football players, etc. Before the evening began, I realized that next year will be my 25th high school reunion! It wasn't a fun thought. I just don't feel that old - if it is old. I am actually hoping that there is a reunion and that a bunch of people go.

Hungary Notes

I am getting a bit anxious. We are taking a group on a Mission trip to Hungary beginning June 13 for two weeks. Almost all of the money is raised and the final logistical aspects need to be finalized. We are going to work at a camp run by Word of Life close to Budapest, Hungary. You can see more and follow our trip on our blog: www.Hungary08.com. I am not looking forward to the long flight but the rest of the trip should be great! We have a good group of people to work with, the ministry will be exciting and the down time sites are at times spectacular. Check out the blog, pray for us, and follow the team's progress.

Talked about this at team meeting.  I wasn't sure I believed it to be true until I saw it.  It is a little long but cool.

The Big G!

New on the menu at Cruiser's Cafe is the "BIG G"! Two scoops of moose
tracks and one scoop of cherry ice cream topped with pineapple,
strawberry and marshmallow and finished off with nuts, whipped cream,
chocolate syrup and "lots and lots of cherries" (at least nine). All
of this for $4.75!!

Named for one of the regulars, this concoction is sure to be a favorite.

Who Keeps 20 Year Old Sermons? Mom!

So this morning, after the Snyder Street Four walk, my mother asked if I would stop in and see if a few things of mine she found at her house were worth keeping. I think she got inspired by my office clean up, I'm not sure. Wanting to be a good son, and yet not looking forward to all the questions I was about to hear, I followed her wishes. In all, is wasn't too bad. I did discover a cassette tape of a sermon I had given on January 10, 1988 (I feel so old). Now I don't preach much and this did make me curious. However, as I type this post, I still haven't listened to it. That was 20 years ago and less than a year into my ministry. I was only part time then and I really hate to think how bad it is. I will let you know if I do listen to it and how bad it really is.

The Weight of My Garbage

Just a quick update on my office. These pictures were taken last Thursday, May 1 - a day after the "Big Clean-up". The first photo is me with all the garbage (mostly paper) that we took out of my office. I am on a truck scales at a local business.

The second pic is how much everything weighed - just under 200 pounds! While I am not proud of the fact, it is a bit humorous to me. Sorry to all those who are organized and would be uncomfortable in that environment. I am happy to report that 8 days later, my office is still in good shape.

Taming the Mahantango!

This was a first for me. Paul needed a little time to unwind. The Manhantango was high due to the recent rain. He made at least two trips. One by himself and the other with his son. This creek really isn't one that you think of kayaking on, but it worked today.

Switchfoot on Leno

I found out that "Switchfoot" will be on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday night, May 13. Tivo it or for you old schoolers, set your VCR's if you can't stay up. They worked on the new Narnia movie, Prince Caspian, which comes out on May 16.

The "Express" Rides Again . . . Soon!

This authentic steam engine used to travel to the local parades, etc. Recently it had been sitting at Cruiser's Cafe. Gary Pyle, seen here working on the "Express" purchased the engine and is in the process of restoring it. I am looking forward to the finished product. I can remember watching it in the Dutch Days Parade as a kid.

Me Vs the Hulk

Having some fun with the Hulk at the Cinema Center before going to the movie "Expelled" with a group.

Doug Fields Has Nothing On Me

Recently, Doug Fields twittered a picture of his home office. I am sure he has nothing on me (and this is my office at the church.) My sister has been offering to help me clean and,
as we say in Central PA "red-up". I took her up on the offer on Wednesday.
The following three pictures were taken before we started.

After about 4 and a half hours of work and a whole lot of complaining from my sister about "how it could get this way!" we finally finished. Here is the result.

I wonder how long it will stay this way?
