Relaxing in a Sack Chair

Jana and I check out an infanous "sack chair" at the National Youth
Ministry Conference before a "State of Youth Ministry" session. The
sack chairs are great. I can't wait for the rest of the conference.

My Lady's Sign

My wife is leading an affinity group for smaller church youth group
leaders. I am so proud of her.

The Big Compfy Couch

The "couch" will greet you as you enter the conference. I stayed up
late and woke up early this morning, so I might use this later if it's
available!

I Made It! NYMC!

I just (or should I say finally) arrived in my room at the National Youth Ministry Conference in Columbus, OH! My wife is an affinity group leader during the conference and I get to enjoy the benefits of this as I spend the weekend in a free room in a very nice hotel! The trip here was great. I got to spend 6 hours with Aaron, Justin and Jon. I am looking forward to this conference and hope to get some fresh ideas, gain new friends, strengthen friendships and be renewed. I also want to see the guys that came along get an even greater passion for ministry to youth in Central PA. Check out the blog as I will post as often as I can about what is happening here at NYMC. My wife, Jana, will also be posting here.

"Everything Is Amazing And Nobody's Happy"

This is Louis CK, a stand up comedian, on Late Night with Conan. I saw it on Lon's Facebook page. Working with teenagers, I can tell you he is right on. I love technology, as many of you will attest, and have often made the statement that "I don't know what we did before the cell phone". However, all the technology hasn't made people in general happier. Enjoy the video.

Publishing Your Tithe Amounts

I saw this on Fox News this morning. It's about a church who published the amounts of people's offerings. At first I was appalled thinking that they published the names with the amounts. However, that wasn't the cast (as you can see if you can watch the video). I would like to know what you think about this. Comment away!

www.JanaGrantSnyder.com

We set up a web site for Jana (my great wife) recently www.janagrantsnyder.com. It is about her speaking/counselling/radio show, etc. It is in the early stages, but you might like to check it out now just for kicks.

What is Bucu?

I don't know if you noticed my twitter (follow me: www.twitter.com/rmyuth) on Friday or not. I had just had a visit from my wife, who, had just found out that I had the dishes done, swept (or do you say vacuumed? comment) the floor, washed and dried the bed sheets and bought her a bouquet of flowers for our two month anniversary. She was pleasantly surprised and came to tell me so. I then twittered: "Just scored a lot of points with my wife" What I really wanted to say was "Just scored "bucu" points with my wife", but, I didn't know how to spell it (until now) and wasn't sure if it was even a word. Well, today I googled it. According to the Urban Dictionary web site, it definitely means "a lot". I didn't know it was a French word and didn't know it was urban but according this site, it is. I'm not French nor urban, but I have been using that word for a long time. Please comment if you have any other spellings, definitions or origins.

Different But Better

I am spending the weekend with my wife at "Weekend To Remember" in Hershey. I am looking forward to to this conference/time away with my bride. But, going away isn't as easy since I am married as when I was single. With my marriage I inherited a dog and a cat who need to be taken care of. So, someone has to come to the house to stay there. Last night, finally, we found someone willing to stay at the house and take care of the animals. :) However, NOW we have to make sure the house is clean before we leave. While I am not opposed to all of this, it is quite different from three months ago (before marriage). When I was single, I just packed and left. I didn't worry how the house looked or if the bed even HAD sheets on, let alone clean sheets with the bed made! The dishes didn't need washed or put away. The bathroom didn't need to have an extra cleaning and the garbage didn't need taken out. It was just easier before I got married. But, even though it is a bit different, I wouldn't change my life the way it is right now for anything!

Super Bowl Leftovers!

The week after the Super Bowl is kinda like the week after Christmas/New Year. So many leftovers from the big party. How can anyone who loves to eat EVER go on a diet between Christmas and . . . well, Christmas? We have to have another party to get rid of all the extra food!
