Big Dogs Clothing and Micheal Vick

I really like to wear Big Dogs clothing. They have "my" sizes. I am not always a fan of everything they produce. This is NOT an endorsement for every product. They definitely don't take life too seriously. I thought this picture below was kind of a funny take on the Micheal Vick situation.

Richfield, PA Water Authority Humor

I don't know if you know it or not but, Pennsylvania is in a drought watch. So . . . Alvin, our town's Water Authority Staff person, has posted on their website a few thoughts on water usage. I really enjoyed his humor. I hope you do too. Go here for the entire advisory. Here is the list (I italicized some words for emphasis - everything below is copied from the richfield water website):

Some thoughts:

1. Keep your cars clean(use car wash, automatic shut
nozzles on hoses and buckets)
2. Keep the flowerbeds pretty
3. Take care of fall vegetable crops
4. Teenagers should
limit themselves to three showers a day of not more than 55 minutes each

5. Cooking water (potato water) or aquarium water is good for plants- aquarium water is probably not good for cooking, even though it has less
chlorine

5. Have a glass of water with your morning coffee and do talk about this at the Restaurant, Bank, Post Office, Ruth’s Beauty
Shop, and where ever else you might be because I want to save postage and your
neighbor may not know about this.
6. DEP web site for drought
information is http://www.depweb.state.pa.us/(keyword “Drought”)
7. One more; if you see water where it doesn’t belong, contact me. Email richfieldwater@countryilink.net

Blog Your Blessings Sunday

I had an awesome experience this morning. Six of the football players I help to coach came to Sunday School and Church today. We had Ryan & Friends at church today and I had invited anyone from the team to come and like I said, six did! The bad (and yet good) part was that Ryan made a fool out of me. Some people say that isn't hard to do?!? Anyway, after church we went to Cruiser's for lunch. It was a very enjoyable morning/afternoon.

Two-A-Days are history for 07

Well, Two-a-days for 2007 are now history. We have had a good two weeks. However, for three of my linemen, it wasn't so great. One has a torn mcl; one has fluid on his knee and one is getting checked out as we speak. Luckily for us, the starters have weathered the storm. We have a talented group of kids this year. I hope we can put together a good run. They are a fun bunch of kids. Check out the Tiger Football site at http://www.tigerfootball.cc/

Thanks to Stacey at Stacey Snyder's Studio for the team pic.

Mike Flynt Rides Again

I heard this on Paul Harvey today. Mike Flynt, 59, will be playing college football this year for Division III Sul Ross College in Alpine, Texas. Read the entire story here.

According to the article, Mike is a "devout Christian". I wish him all the best and I will be following the Lobos this gridiron season.

Makenzie's Medals at Colorado

Makenzie McDonald, right, third place winner at the State Games of America.

The secretary here at the church was buzzing a couple of weeks ago. Her eight year old granddaughter, Makenzie McDonald, has been taking gymnastic lessons for a few years and been doing well. So well, in fact, that she qualified for a national event, The State Games of America, at the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Makenzie did very well and came home from the meet with four total medals. She won a second in the vault, and thirds in the floor and bars. She also received a third place medal in all around.

Makenzie has spent time here in the office and is a personable young girl. We here in the office are very proud her and I know that her grandparents are as well. Congratulations Makenzie!

A New Experiment

On May 16 I began an experiment. If you like, you could search for it on the blog and find it. The experiment hasn't gone well. So, today, I begin a new experiment. I have joined a site called payperpost. They actually will pay me money - $5.00 or more to post about web sites, companies, products and more! I love the idea. I have again decided to use the money for the youth in my church and surrounding ministry. Just like the name of my blog, it won't be about me. So please bare with me as I occasionally review some "products" and share my thoughts with you.

This idea also came from the "Hot Dog Truck" blog. I guess I figured that if I was going to spend some time posting, and they are willing to pay for it, I might as well try it out. Hopefully the teenagers in Richfield and surrounding area will benefit from this experiment in the long run.

Also, if you are a blogger or an advertiser, you might like to try out payperpost with me. The advertisers get people to hear about their product and the bloggers get paid. This seems like a much better experiment to me than my last one.

Faith & Football from the Colts

I am already a year late, but I saw this advertised on the official Indianapolis Colts website. Coach Dungy and some of the colts share their personal stories of their faith on a DVD. Here is a short blurb from their site.

This unique video features interviews with Coach Dungy, Linebacker Gary
Brackett, Offensive Guard Dylan Gandy and Tight End Ben Utecht. Great for church
youth groups, the 2006 Faith & Football DVD takes a deeper look at the faith
that has played a pivotal role in the lives and careers of these Colts.

The DVD is available to churches and non-profit organizations for free, however, this was last years production. I don't even know if they have any more. I have filled out the form and will send it in. Hopefully, I will get one. The colts have been my favorite football team for 41 years and it is great to see that the organization is supporting faith and football video.

A Great Steak at Texas Roadhouse

So, Friday night a couple of us went to the outlets in Lancaster. After spending too much money in the Big Dogs store, we went across the highway to Texas Roadhouse. I was looking forward to a nice meal as I have lived on Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches all week at football preseason camp. This was my second trip to this Roadhouse. The wait was long, as expected. They have a window to watch the grill team making the steaks, etc. I probably watched for at least 20 minuets, with nothing better to do. We were also given the chance to select the steak we wanted to have prepared. It was a good idea and it helped take our minds off of the wait time, if even for a few minutes. It is a fun atmosphere with loud music, peanut shells on the floor, and line dancing wait staff. The best part of the evening was the steak. I haven't had a steak as good as that since. . . well I don't remember the last time I have had a steak as good. Seriously, it just seemed to melt in your mouth. I savored every minute of it. I will definitely look forward to the my next trip to Lancaster and the Roadhouse. For now, it is back to PB&J at preseason.

Jim Kosek Should Do All the Weather . . . Everywhere

I like to check the weather at least once each day, sometimes more, on accuweather.com. Lately I have been watching the weather videos they have posted. Today, Jim Kosek was on. He makes watching the weather fun. I can't figure out how to put the video on. I feel so dumb today. Anyway, check out accuweather.com and look for Jim. It is entertaining.

Always a Best Man . . . Never a Groom

Yesterday was the third time I was a best man in a wedding, the second for a former youth group kid. What a great experience it is to share my life with teenagers who grow up to be friends and eventually co-workers. The older I get, the more I realize that this was probably the last time I will be asked to be a best man. Maybe I should begin to look for a wife of my own? ? ?

Beach Boys VS Nirvana

I thought this was interesting . . . Last night while at a local high school I walked by the band room. They were taking a break in their camp schedule. Music I recognized was playing. . . by the Beach Boys.

Not more than a few steps later I walked into the football locker room . . . Music? ? ? that I semi-recognized was playing . . . by Nirvana.

Interesting. . .

"Battle at Kruger" and the "Amish" Response

If you haven't seen "Battle at Kruger" go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU8DDYz68kM and watch it and then watch the video below.

Thanks to Jeff for finding both videos. I had seen the "Battle at Kruger" on Fox News this morning. However, this response is comical.

Ryan and Friends to Appear at RMC in Richfield

Ryan And Friends will be in Richfield, PA at RMC at 8 AM, 9:15 AM and 10:15 AM. Here is a small sample.

Buca's. . . Second Time Around

I wrote earlier about going to Buca di Beppo on Saturday night. It was perfectness as usual. I am now eating some of the leftovers and they are good the second time around as well. Actually, if it is possible, I think it might be a bit better. The sauce has had time to penetrate the pasta and, I don't know, I think it is better that way. However, I like seconds. I think mashed potatoes are better the second day. Macaroni and Potato salad are, as well, much better if they sit overnight. Am I wrong about this? Am I just weird? Let me know what you think.

Blog Your Blessings Sunday

Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, . . . But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, . . ." - Matthew 9:35 - 38

To know that the God of this world would have compassion for His creation is just an incredible thought to me.

Hot Week for Football Camp

Third day of football camp. All is well. It is really hot! The kids are learning a lot. They had better learn stuff fast . . . there are only 10 days until we put the pads on for real! I love it!

Buca's on Saturday!!

I am looking forward to Saturday night. We are taking a friend of mine (I am his best man next week in his wedding) to Buca di Beppo for part of his his bachelor party. I love Buca's! (This is NOT a paid advertisement)

We go there each year for our "Celebration" meal when we go to Charlotte, NC to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse. I have also been to a Buca's in California - not that you care. Anyway, it is just Wednesday and yet my taste buds are going crazy thinking about it.

My Wallet

I drove 3 and a half hours out and back to Camp Mantowagan this morning - just to get my wallet. Aaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhh.
