A Few Memories from our OCC Trip

Here are a few things I will remember about our trip to the Operation Christmas Child processing center 2009.

  • This symbol <3>Kevin Milliken "surfing" on a luggage cart
  • Mike Hummel laughing out loud (lol for those who text) while watching trucks run into a bridge
  • Rubber band balls
  • Craming 27 people in a room to eat and have devotions
  • Four sets of siblings working together - + two mother and daughters
  • Trying to use outdated gift cards to pay for Buca's
  • Processing shoeboxes from our church (and kids processing their own boxes they packed)
  • Laughing with everyone and getting know kids better

I am sure there are more. If you went this year, what are some of your memories. If you have gone in the past, what do you remember? Please comment if you would.

14 years of memories are difficult to sum up... we've had some great times. Here are some of my most memorable things and I hope they are in some semblance of order

1. I'm # 1
2. Being thankful for the first year we stayed in suites... you would totally understand if you had t sleep in a room that smelled like baloney (i know the right spelling is bologna) for several days.
3. Lawson practically living in our room one year.
4.Thanksgiving in various places, but the best was the year we ate outside.
5.Who could for get the underwear episode (if you don't know what i mean, you are just out of luck)

I guess you could say these are my top 5. There are so many more.Great friendships have been formed on these trips for me and for the years that I wasn't able to go with you all it is not easy to stay home and hear all the stories. Speaking of staying home I forgot about "my rookie year". I have had memories form on my separate trips ..like getting completely lost in a bad section of Charlotte and having Joey tell me the next day "you were almost dead!" and meeting Franklin Graham, but none compare to the trips with "my kids" o yeah that brings in the memories of being interviewed for the news and the editing made me sound like a mom talking about "my kids" and arguing with the registration clerk at the ER who wasn't getting it that I was NOT Caleb's mom. I need to stop, but 14 years with or without the crew has brought such a wonderful bunch of memories... we really need that reunion and i am already trying to figure out how i can go with you guys next year. I missed YA'LL

Late night laughs in the adult women's room.

This is a duck, a what, a duck, does it quack, of course it quacks.
Catching up with old friends
Shana and Reggie!

I don't know what order these would go in, but...

* Hummel telling me jokes at 1:00am to keep me awake while driving!
(How do you catch an elephant?)

* Jon saying phrases that only can be said on Thanksgiving Day!

* My box nazis! (Don't be offended by this, it is a good thing and they know it!)

* Getting a working radio system in the church van, then arguing over what to listen to! Priceless!

* Speaking of the church van, seeing Malachi get stuck while trying to help, then the ensuing chaos of getting him out!

These are just a few of my memories of the trip this year, and many more are worthy of mention! Thanks to all who went and gave of themselves!
