The Nativity Scene

Christmas is right around the corner and this morning while walking with the Snyder Street Four, I was reminded about my mother's Nativity collection. Over the years my mother has collected 154 nativity sets. All will be placed around their home for the Christmas season. Some she bought while most were given to her. The picture below is of the first set my mother bought. She tells us that the first Christmas together with my dad she thought it necessary to have a nativity set in their home. So, she went to the "Five and Ten" (I also remember people calling it the "Five and Dime") and bought this set. She brought it home and my dad quickly put together a "stable". For over 50 years this same scene has been set out at Christmas.

Your post brings back memories. Our creche had dime store pices---none of which matched and no two that were the same proportion. So we have a little ornament of a creche and these giant Wise Men on camelback. Of course, the scene was set in snow (pillow stuffing) so none of the wobbly pieces would fall over!
